## Summary

Swindon Borough Council is currently conducting a tender process for the project titled "A rehabilitation day centre to support people affected by brain injury." This initiative falls under the industry category of community services, specifically focusing on the provision of support for individuals with cognitive impairments resulting from brain injuries. The tender is in the planning stage, with a submission deadline set for 30th January 2018. The total value of the contract is £161,000, and the service delivery is expected to commence on 1st April 2018, continuing until 31st March 2021. The service will be located in Swindon, part of the South West region of England.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specialising in health and social care, particularly those experienced in providing rehabilitation services, cognitive therapy, and support for individuals with disabilities. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are encouraged to participate, as the procurement method is an open procedure, allowing a broad array of providers to compete. By responding to this tender, businesses can not only contribute to enhancing the quality of life for those affected by brain injuries but also expand their client base and service offerings in the community service sector.

## Notice

Brain injury affects the way a person thinks, learns and remembers. Different mental abilities are located in different parts of the brain, so a head injury can damage some, but not necessarily all, skills such as speed of thought, memory, understanding, and concentration, solving problems and using language. Executive dysfunction is a term for the range of cognitive, emotional and behavioural difficulties which often occur after injury to the frontal lobes of the brain. Impairment of executive functions is common after acquired brain injury and has a profound effect on many aspects of everyday life.
