## Summary

The Bristol City Council has initiated a tender process for the provision of on-premise server backup and disaster recovery services. This procurement falls under the industry category of software package utilities and related services. The tender, with a value of £1,400,000 GBP, is currently at the open procedure stage, with the tender period ending on 20th October 2023. The contract period is scheduled to start from 6th March 2024 until 6th March 2026.

This tender opportunity by Bristol City Council offers a chance for businesses specializing in disaster recovery services and software package utilities to expand their market presence. Companies experienced in providing secure IT infrastructure solutions would be well-suited to compete for this contract. The procurement process aims to ensure the council's data protection and security in case of any incidents that could compromise services or data stored in local data centres.

## Notice

Bristol City Council IT infrastructure was originally deployed in Council owned data centres in the city, services provided on behalf of BCC and ensures support and security with data backed up off site to a secure external location. In recent years the council has moved much of its IT estate to the cloud, reducing its reliance on its own physical IT infrastructure such as on-premise data centres. However, there is still some need for physical data centres at present, particularly where legacy systems and data stored on them as less suited to a cloud environment and/or need complex and costly work to transition them to the cloud. With some vital systems and much critical data still stored locally, it is vital that the council has robust disaster recovery, back-up and other protective services, which help safeguard our data in case of any failures in local data centres or other incidents (including cyber-attack) which could compromise our data and/or services.
