## Summary

The procurement process involves the NHS Shared Business Services, which recently awarded a contract titled 'Dementia Advisor and Volunteer Co-ordinator in North West London'. This contract, valued at £57,750, is within the health services industry category and is intended to improve healthcare access and community engagement for older adults in London. The contract commenced on 1st October 2021 and will conclude on 31st March 2023. The procurement method used was a direct, single tender action below threshold, reflecting a streamlined approach to secure services rapidly while the NHS North West London CCG formulates a longer-term commissioning strategy.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses focused on community health and social services, particularly those that specialise in volunteer coordination and support for vulnerable populations. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as voluntary and community sector enterprises (VCSEs) with expertise in healthcare and community engagement are well-suited to compete in this space, particularly given the emphasis on improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities in deprived areas. The project aims to empower local communities by enhancing access to primary care and creating a network of support for older individuals affected by dementia.

## Notice

The Dementia Volunteer Coordinator is not a standalone service. There will be one WTE project worker recruits, manage and works with a team of volunteers. The team of volunteers will encourage older people to be more active and go outside, attend medical appointments, join in with activities, go on outings and help at the Westminster Memory Cafes in the North and South of the Borough with the aims of: * Improving access to primary care and community health services - by supporting the individual to attend appointments * Reducing health inequalities, particularly in deprived/vulnerable communities and empowering local people to improve their own health - by supporting the client to attend exercise classes and dementia cafes to improve their social connections and general wellbeing, as well as physical fitness, where they would otherwise be unable or unlikely to attend unaccompanied. Additional information: A new contract is putting in place for a period of 18 months to afford the newly forming NHS North West London CCG time to agree the approach to commission this service at NWL ICS level in line with national and ICS guidance to ensure smoother, less complicated, non-duplicated service delivery.
