## Summary

The public procurement process involves the Department for Transport (DfT) as the buying organisation, seeking to contract for the "Expansion and Integration of CRASH", primarily in the data-processing equipment sector. The tender was initiated as a direct procurement method, specifically through a single tender action, and is currently at the award stage. The contract period commenced on 22nd July 2019 and will conclude on 22nd January 2020. The total contract value is £95,000. Key dates include the tender deadline, which was on 19th July 2019, and the award notice published on 20th September 2019.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses that possess expertise in IT system development and integration, particularly those with a strong understanding of police operational needs and data management systems. Firms specialising in software development, data processing, and system upgrades would be well-suited to respond to such an opportunity, potentially expanding their client base within public sector contracts. Given the specific focus on enhancing police IT systems, companies that can demonstrate relevant experience in public sector collaborations will have a competitive edge.

## Notice

" In June 2017 the decision was made that DfT would take over responsibility for the Collision Reporting and Sharing (CRASH) IT system. Further that the Department would develop and roll out a refreshed and improved version of the system to police forces. The Current CRASH system, which provides essential road casualty data is owned and managed by the DfT and there is a need to now integrate this system into other key police systems. In order to achieve this DfT requires the support of an individual or organisation with a very comprehensive understanding of the existing system, supporting systems, the needs of police forces using the system and the ability to bring these together to develop and deliver the upgraded product. "
