## Summary

The Ministry of Defence has completed a selective procurement process, awarding contracts under the project titled "704399451-46 - MSS/142 MRO055_CAN," part of the maritime maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for Royal Naval platforms. The procurement, using the restricted procedure, falls under the industry category "Repair and maintenance services of warships" and was managed by the Defence Equipment Support (DES) Power, Propulsion, and Auxiliaries (PPA) Team. The process has reached the award stage as of 16 January 2026, with contracts running from 25 September 2025 to 4 May 2026. The framework, governed by DSPCR 2011 regulations, includes locations spanning British Overseas Territories, Channel Islands, Europe, Isle of Man, the United Kingdom, and worldwide, with a maximum framework value of £317 million. Although the call-off contract value remains confidential, the framework facilitates ongoing competitive mini-competitions.

This procurement presents considerable opportunities for businesses involved in naval repair and maintenance services, particularly those with capabilities in marine environmental, domestic, and habitability items, given the framework's structure allowing for ongoing mini-competitions. It is well-suited for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as voluntary, community, and social enterprise organisations (VCSEs) due to the competitive nature and scope of potential engagements. Large enterprises like BAE Systems Surface Ships Limited, Scott Aerospace, and CARWOOD MOTOR UNIT LTD have already secured partnerships under this framework, showcasing the significant scale and breadth of its economic impact.
