## Summary

The procurement process for the project titled "CEFAS21-119 ITT OCPP Workshop Facilitation" is conducted by the Defra Network eTendering Portal, focusing on education and training services within the aquaculture industry. Located primarily in the British Overseas Territories, this tender has been classified under an open procedure and was recently awarded, with the contract period spanning from 20th January 2022 to 31st July 2022. The total value of the contract is £49,400, having been finalised on 18th January 2022.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in training and facilitation within the aquaculture sector, particularly those that are keen to engage in sustainable seafood practices. Companies with expertise in workshop facilitation, environmental health, and community engagement would be well-suited to compete. Additionally, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can particularly benefit from this contract, given its inclusion of SME suitability criteria. The progressive focus on sustainable aquaculture practices also aligns with a growing global market for responsible seafood production, offering potential avenues for businesses to expand their services and strengthen their market position.

## Notice

Through addressing sustainable seafood challenges, the OCPP hopes to ensure seafood produced and distributed in ways which support healthy ecosystems, do not overexploit marine stocks, provide sustainable inclusive and equitable livelihoods and enhance resilience to climate and socioeconomic shocks. Cefas will host workshops in partner countries Sri Lanka, India and Africa, to formally introduce the concept of One Health Aquaculture to Responsible Authorities and other stakeholders with responsibility for policies associated with environmental-, human health- and animal health-elements of national aquatic food production. Delegates at the workshop will have the opportunity to discuss the current partnership, including an opportunity to interact directly with the UK-based leads of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) Collaborating Centre for Emerging Aquatic Animal Diseases, the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Reference Centre for Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) and the FAO Reference Centre for Bivalve Mollusc Sanitation. Interaction is intended to support aquatic food production and trade aspirations of overseas Governments and where suitable, to build a lasting framework for future engagement. This will lead to a change in how sustainable aquaculture is perceived, catalysing movement to creation of sustainable aquatic farming practices, in turn leading to improved conditions for trade (generating income and gross domestic product (GDP)) and generation of jobs and supply of food/protein in associated regions.
