This project aims to provide sufficient accommodation for approximately 6,500 athletes during the 2022 Commonwealth Games and includes the demolition of existing structures, enabling works, and infrastructure improvements. Birmingham City Council is seeking for the appointment of a building contractor for the residential redevelopment of the former Birmingham City University campus, Perry Barr, demolition of further existing structures, complete the enabling works, temporary services and infrastructure works for the Games mode 'overlay' and to complete legacy conversion for future residential tenures. The following outcomes are sought:- - The development of high quality accommodation for the athletes during the period of the games - The creation of a high quality aspirational neighbourhood in the heart of Perry Barr; - Regeneration of the wider Perry Barr area through complementary investment in transport infrastructure, and the development of adjacent sites The contract will be for a duration of up to 6 years.
