## Summary

The contracting process led by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) has reached the award stage with the conclusion of a mini competition under the Crown Commercial Services RM6126 Research & Insights DPS. The project titled "PS25337 - International Benchmarking" required research and development services with a focus on advanced materials. The contract was awarded on 27th January 2026 to Frazer-Nash Consultancy Limited, and the project is set to run from 30th January to 31st March 2026. This work is pivotal to DSIT's development of the National Materials Innovation Programme, and it involves benchmarking the UK's advanced materials sector internationally in locations including the British Oversea Territories, Europe, and globally.

This procurement provides opportunities for businesses in the research and development industry, particularly those offering consulting services in advanced materials and technology. The focus on international benchmarking against countries like Germany, Spain, and Canada suggests that organisations with experience in international research collaborations will be well-suited for similar tenders in the future. The selective procurement method utilised a dynamic purchasing system, indicating a particular interest in established suppliers familiar with government frameworks. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with a track record in generating comprehensive research reports could find significant growth opportunities through similar projects spearheaded by DSIT or other government bodies aiming to propel the UK as a leader in materials innovation.
