The cafe will be equipped and furnished as a ready-to-operate unit from June 2022. The aim is to deliver an accessible, affordable food offering to the highest standard. In addition, the dietary offering will minimise foods and packaging with a negative social or environmental impact and should promote nutrition and well-being. The structure will be a non-permanent unit. For example, a mobile cafe that leaves the site between operating hours or a container/unit left on site overnight. This exciting opportunity has arisen because Oxford City Council, in partnership with Tesla, Fastned, and Gamma Energy, will be launching the most prominent public EV charging in the UK at Redbridge P&R in May '22. In total, there will be 42 EV charging bays, 22 of which will belong to Tesla and Fastned and provide 'ultra-rapid' charging, with customers stopping for an average of 15 - 40 minutes whilst their vehicle charges. The customer base for the Cafe will be; visitors to the Park & Ride & EV Hub, bypassing traffic using the ring road around Oxford and the local population.
