Untitled Vessel (1986) by Magdalene Odundo for the Sainsbury Centre collection. In 2019 Sainsbury Centre held an important exhibition of Odundo's work. Since then, we have had the ambition to acquire a work for the collection. We have now been offered funds from private patrons to purchase an important work. Her works from this period are the most sought after and most in private collections have recently been sold, so others are unlikely to come up again. The acquisition has been approved by the Sainsbury Centre acquisitions committee and Board. Odundo's works come up for sale very rarely. There are no other works from this period in Odundo's career currently available for sale, so a Single Action Tender has been undertaken.
