## Summary

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has completed the procurement process for the purchase of 15 Toyota Hilux Pickups to serve as Coastguard Rescue Vehicles. This contract, classified under 'All-terrain vehicles', 'Emergency vehicles', and 'Rescue vehicles', involves a selective procurement method, specifically a call-off from the Crown Commercial Services framework RM6244. The procurement process concluded with an award date of 7th August 2024, following the tender period ending on 2nd August 2024. The total contract value is £526,626, and the vehicles will be delivered across several locations including the British Overseas Territories, Channel Islands, Europe, Isle of Man, Rest of the World, and the United Kingdom.

This tender provides significant opportunities for businesses in the automotive sector, particularly those specialising in 4x4 vehicles and emergency response vehicles. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are highlighted as well-suited to compete for such contracts. The focus on upgrading to modern, Euro 6 engine vehicles aligns with efforts to reduce carbon emissions, presenting growth opportunities for companies offering low-emission and zero-emission solutions. Furthermore, businesses with capabilities in customising vehicles for emergency response functionalities will find this an advantageous contract to pursue in future procurement cycles.

In line with the general exemptions from the Governments Fleet Commitment for emergency response vehicles fitted with blue warning beacons, HMCG will continue to work towards and progress the greening of HM Coastguard blue light fleet through low emission and zero emission vehicles when opportunities allow as evidenced through the fleet of EV vehicles also procured during this financial year. These purchases have been secured using the Crown Commercial Services framework RM6244 (Lot 4 Bluelight Cars and Motorcycles (Emergency Services).
