## Summary

Durham County Council is inviting tenders for the "Short Breaks Opportunities" project, aimed at providing support services for disabled children and young people. This procurement process falls under the health and social work services category and is currently in the Tender stage. The tender was published on 15th January 2021, with a submission deadline set for 22nd January 2021. The anticipated contract period is from 5th February 2021 to 14th January 2022, and services will be delivered in the North East region of England through an open procurement method.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs) to grow their businesses. Providers capable of delivering respite care or support services for disabled children and young people in local communities will find this procurement particularly relevant. By partnering with the Local Authority and responding to the demand for support worker hours, businesses can enhance their service offerings while contributing to community welfare.

The Local Authority Commissioners are keen to engage with Providers who have existing capacity to assist in meeting this demand, or would like to discuss how capacity could be developed to enable future delivery.current demand for support worker hours on a geographical basis. The below shows current demand for support worker hours on a geographical basis.
