It forms the next, and most significant and exciting, stage in the transformation of the Wordsworth Trust into a more inclusive organisation with a genuinely participatory relationship with its beneficiaries. The Wordsworth Trust was founded in 1891 to purchase and preserve Dove Cottage, one of the world's most important literary sites. Dove Cottage was the home of William Wordsworth from 1799 to 1808, his 'golden decade' when he wrote most of what is now regarded as his greatest poetry, including 'I wandered lonely as a cloud', probably the most well-known poem in the English language.
