## Notice

The Requirement The rapid adoption of an online modality of teaching and assessment that was universally adopted because of the COVID19 pandemic in 2020 has caused a transformation that appears to be persisting in some domains. One of the key areas in which this phenomenon is holding and proving to be problematic is in the space of online exams. There has been a notable increase in the delivery of exams using Canvas in recent years, with over 1500 taking place last year. Many of these are either unsecured online test using the Canvas quiz tool; others are assignments released and provided with an extended time window for completion. Some of the key issues identified in the present use of online exams at LJMU are. * Marked rise in online exam frequency. * Unsupervised, time-limited online exams with inadequate security measures. * Extended completion periods may exacerbate student anxiety and inequity concerns. * High costs associated with in-person exam resources and logistics. * Considerable organizational efforts invested in academic misconduct investigations. * Current online exam management strategies are expensive and not fully secure. * Generative AI technologies present significant sector-wide challenges. * Real risk of damage to institutional reputation. Additionally, there are a number of Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs) who have an interest in ensuring online exams are conducted to standards of information security. Additional information: LJMU are researching the market for this requirement. This is not a tender exercise.
