AGCSU currently delivers a Medicines Optimisation service for its customer base across Coventry, Rugby and Warwickshire, Norfolk and Waveney and the West Midlands, offering differing levels of service provision in line with local Service Level Agreements. Medicines Optimisation Services include: * Primary Care e.g. switching drugs, clinically reviewing patients, deprescribing, prescribing audits * Secondary Care e.g. Commissioning of tariff excluded drugs, invoice validation, prior approval systems, clinical pathway design * Care Homes e.g. waste reduction, polypharmacy deprescribing, reducing medication harms and improving patient outcomes, * Enhanced High Cost drug support e.g. in-reach support in hospitals * Controlled Drugs e.g. supporting regional CDAO enact their duties AGCSU is committed to providing a value for money Medicines Optimisation service to our customers. It is recognised that savings arising from clinical interventions and subsequent reductions in hospital admissions, are often not quantified in a reliable way. Therefore the Medicines Optimisation team wish to develop a way of calculating savings from interventions made. We are now seeking to procure an academic provider to work with the Medicines Optimisation Team to develop a scoring Medicines Optimisation Intervention accredited costing tool.
