The tender, titled "PS21133 - Supply Chains to Support a Hydrogen Economy," is classified under research services and is currently at the Award stage. The procurement method used is selective, and the contract period began on 29th November 2021 and extends until 31st March 2022. The initial tender period concluded on 24th September 2021, with the contract awarded for a total value of £79,950. Interested parties may note that this is not a call for competition as it is a call-off from a dynamic purchasing system.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those engaged in research and consultancy services related to renewable energy and environmental sustainability. Companies with a focus on low carbon technologies, hydrogen production, and supply chain analysis will find this bidding process aligned with their expertise. As BEIS aims to support economic growth through the establishment of a robust hydrogen economy, local businesses, including small and medium-sized enterprises, are well-positioned to contribute to and benefit from this initiative.

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is building a stronger, greener future by fighting coronavirus, tackling climate change, unleashing innovation and making the UK a great place to work and do business. More about BEIS's policy objectives and remit is available at: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-for-business-energy-and-industrial- strategy The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) wishes to appoint a contractor (or consortium) to perform research to examine the supply chains needed to support a UK hydrogen economy. Low carbon hydrogen will be a key enabler for the UK to meet its net zero target and the UK's Hydrogen Strategy outlines the UK Government's vision for the development of a UK hydrogen economy, with an ambition for 5GW of hydrogen production by 2030, the development of hydrogen networks and storage, and a range of possible end-users. To realise the economic opportunities that a thriving hydrogen economy holds for the UK, the Hydrogen Economy team, part of the Industrial Energy Directorate within BEIS, is looking to commission research to develop HMG's evidence base in order to improve our understanding of the supply chains needed to support a future hydrogen economy. The research project will need to combine knowledge based upon existing literature, data and analysis related to hydrogen supply chains with new research and analysis to develop our understanding of the supply chains needed to meet UK ambitions.
