## Summary

Barrow in Furness Borough Council is conducting a tender for a feasibility study regarding the relocation of a waste depot as part of its ambitious regeneration programme funded by the Towns Fund. The project aims to transform the Marina Village area and facilitate the development of up to 600 new homes. The tender was published on 16th February 2022 and will close on 28th February 2022 at 17:00. The estimated budget for this study is £50,000, covering all associated design plans and costs. The contract period is scheduled to commence on 1st March 2022 and conclude by 31st March 2022. This procurement falls under the category of services, specifically environmental services and cleaning, and is being carried out through an open procurement process.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that specialise in environmental consulting, urban planning, or engineering services. Businesses with expertise in feasibility studies and knowledge of the local context will be particularly well-suited to participate. The successful contractor will play a crucial role as Barrow in Furness progresses with its transformative initiatives aimed at rejuvenating the local economy and enhancing community living standards.

## Notice

Barrow was successfully awarded PS25m through the Towns Fund which is part of the Government's plan to level up the UK economy. This is an ambitious programme which will transform Barrow and includes plans for a new University Campus and support to remove constraints from the Marina Village site which is a cornerstone of the housing led regeneration area in Barrow. Marina Village is a proposed mixed use scheme that will transform a brownfield site and enable up to 600 new homes. Although the majority is currently derelict there are industrial uses of the site which will need to be relocated to allow the entire programme of works to proceed. Barrow Council owns the majority of the site including the waste depot which is currently leased to its external waste contractor. A feasibility study is needed to assess the optimal location for the waste depot and to provide a detailed costed option analysis of the suitability of new locations and any costs and design plans needed to facilitate a relocation in 2023/24. The cost of the production of the feasibility study and option analysis will be no more than PS50,000 including design plans and costs. Barrow Council (the Council) would like to thank you for your interest in this opportunity. This document contains the questions that you will need to complete and return, in addition to all supporting information about the Council's requirements and the evaluation process.
