## Summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is planning the procurement of a new Enterprise Content Management Platform as part of their ongoing digital transformation initiatives. The Trust, one of the largest NHS Trusts in the UK, operates numerous hospitals and clinics in the West Midlands, including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and Heartlands Hospital. This procurement process is currently in the planning stage, with a market engagement exercise scheduled to conclude on 23rd August 2024. Suppliers interested in participating must express their interest via the Health Family Single eCommercial System Portal by 16:00 on 21st August 2024. The industry category for this procurement is Software Packages and Information Systems (CPV code 48000000).

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in software solutions, particularly those with experience in the NHS sector and expertise in data migration. The new platform will replace UHB's current system, which supports the clinical Electronic Patient Record by scanning, storing, and retrieving various media types. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are explicitly invited to participate, making this an attractive proposition for companies looking to expand their footprint in the healthcare technology market. The successful supplier will be expected to ensure seamless integration with existing systems, support patient access to electronic media, and further UHB's goal of a paperless environment.

## Notice

This notice was originally published towards the end of 2023 and has been reissued with additional information. University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust ("UHB") is one of the UK's largest NHS Trusts that runs the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Birmingham Chest Clinic, Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital, Solihull Hospital, and various community services across the region, and is one of the highest performing Health organisations in Europe with a proven international reputation for its quality of care, information technology, clinical education and training and research. The trust has 2,366 in-patient beds over 105 wards in addition to 115 children's beds and 145 day case beds. The trust operates 7,127 outpatients' and 304 community clinics per week with a workforce of over 20,000 members of staff. UHB is looking to source a solution from suppliers which replaces the current Enterprise Content Management Platform software for the storage of all types of electronic media and a clinical record viewer. This will aim to scan, store and retrieve all electronic based media types to support our clinical Electronic Patient Record and to improve operational performance; improve patient outcomes and improve ways of working for staff. The role of this software is to electronically store part of the patient electronic clinical record as we continue our direction towards a paperless environment. The current solution has been in use since 2009 and has 106 million documents covering 4.6 million patients record and sized at 40TB (PDF's 36.74TB and 0.3 TB thumbnails). These documents are regularly accessed by our clinicians to deliver high quality patient care. Documents are currently accessed and viewed by an inhouse viewer. Over the last decade there has been a national drive to allow patients to have access to the information we hold. This has been achieved in the NHS via local patient portals or via the national NHS App. Currently this information is limited to referral or appointment data, but the national trend is to make all electronic media that we hold available to patients. This solution must be able to support this strategy via integration with local shared care records, patient portals and /or the NHS App. As well as the above requirements the Trust would also be looking for a new supplier to have experience of migrating data from our current Enterprise Content Management solution and experience work delivering in the NHS market. Suppliers wishing to participate in this market engagement exercise and express an interest in this requirement should respond to the questionnaire via the online form on the Health Family Single eCommercial System Portal (Atamis) by 16:00 on Wednesday 21st August 2024. https://health-family.force.com/s/Welcome Please search for C300819 To View documents please register interest and then navigate "My Proposals and quotes"
