## Summary

Nottinghamshire County Council is currently seeking tenders for the "Appropriate Adults Service", aimed at providing vital support to children and young people aged 10 to 17 who are detained in police custody within Nottinghamshire and Nottingham City. This service is essential when a parent or guardian is unavailable or unable to assist the detained individual. The procurement method is an open procedure, and interested parties have until 25 March 2019 to submit their bids. The contract will commence on 1 June 2019, spanning three years, with an additional option for a two-year extension. The total value of the contract is £160,000, classified under social work and related services within the industry category.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) that can provide specialised services supporting vulnerable children and youth. Given the nature of the service, companies with expertise in social work, youth services, or those experienced in working alongside law enforcement will find this procurement especially relevant. By participating in this tender, businesses can contribute to community welfare while potentially enhancing their service portfolios and establishing a long-term partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council.

## Notice

Nottinghamshire County Council, and on behalf of Nottingham City Council, are seeking tenders from suitably qualified bidders to provide an Appropriate Adult service, to support children and young people, (aged 10 to 17 inclusive) when a parent or guardian is unable or unwilling to attend; who are detained in police custody at across Nottinghamshire and Nottingham City. If it is not possible for a family member or friend, to act as an Appropriate Adult and assist the detained person, or the police consider that it is not in the best interests of the person detained. The aims of an Appropriate Adult service as described in P.A.C.E are: * To ensure the rights of children and young people are upheld and that individuals are treated fairly in accordance with P.A.C.E. guidelines. * To facilitate communication between the detained person and the police. * To be present when the detained person is informed of their rights and entitlements and to ensure that these are understood. Bidders will provide the service as and when required and will be paid per session. Nottinghamshire County Council (the Council) wishes to appoint a single service provider. The scope and nature of the services required by the Council are set out in more detail in the Specification. The contract duration will be for 3 years with an option to extend for a further 2 years (reviewed annually)
