## Summary

The Met Office is seeking suppliers for Ultrasonic Wind Sensors as part of a tendering process. This procurement falls under the meteorological instruments category and is located in the United Kingdom. The tender was published on 28 May 2020, and the tender period will close on 8 July 2020. The anticipated contract, valued at £150,000, will be awarded via an open procedure, resulting in a 4-year framework agreement starting from 1 September 2020 through to 31 August 2024.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses that specialise in meteorological instruments or related technologies, particularly those capable of supplying equipment resilient to harsh marine environments. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, positioning themselves as potential partners for the Met Office in providing solutions that meet specific operational demands, such as durability against extreme weather conditions.

## Notice

The Met Office wishes to replace its current network of wind sensors. We are seeking new combined wind speed and direction sensors that will be deployed on marine buoys operating around the British Isles. It is anticipated that around 60 sensors may be required throughout the life of any subsequent contract (however, this estimate is provided for information only and no guarantees of demand can be provided). Due to the nature of the marine environment, the solution will be subjected to extreme conditions such as: strong winds, driving rain, saltwater, ice, vibration and shock. The solution provided must operate consistently in a marine environment and provide accurate and reliable outputs. The Met Office intends to award a framework agreement to a single supplier for the provision of Ultrasonic Wind Sensors. The framework will be for a 4-year fixed term.
