They shall provide an immediate place of safety for a young person who finds themselves in a position of homelessness. Safe bases provide short term, emergency accommodation in Worcestershire for young people aged between 16 and 17 (at the time of placement) who are experiencing homelessness. Whilst young people accessing this service are generally not Looked After Children at the time of Safe base placement, some will choose to become looked after upon making an informed decision following a joint housing assessment. Therefore, whilst the authority searches for a Looked After placement there may be some young people who are within the Safe base provision that do become Looked After during the search for alternative accommodation by WCF.
