## Summary

The North York Moors National Park Authority has issued a tender with the title "Development of an Active Travel Plan or LCWIP" within the services industry category. The procurement process is currently in the tender stage, with a deadline for submissions on June 26, 2024. The contract period is anticipated to start on July 8, 2024, and end on March 31, 2025. The tender is open to businesses, especially SMEs, with a total contract value of GBP 100,000. The project location includes regions in the North East and Yorkshire and the Humber.

This opportunity to develop an Active Travel Plan or LCWIP presents a chance for consultancy firms or active travel specialists to support infrastructure works within the rural context of the North York Moors National Park. Businesses well-suited to compete are those with expertise in highways consultancy services. SMEs are particularly encouraged to participate, as the procurement is below threshold, providing a fair chance for smaller enterprises to engage in public procurement and contribute to enhancing the National Park's travel infrastructure.

## Notice

An invitation to quote for consultants or active travel specialists to produce an Active Travel Plan or Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) for the North York Moors National Park Authority (NYMNPA). It is being issued by the North York Moors National Park Authority. Wider stakeholder inputs are expected as part of the development of the LCWIP. The LCWIP will be developed with reference to the Department for Transport's LCWIP guidance, the key outputs of an LCWIP are: - a network plan for walking and cycling which identifies preferred routes and core zones for further development - a prioritised programme of infrastructure improvements for future investment - a report which sets out the underlying analysis carried out and provides a narrative which supports the identified improvements and network There also needs to be considered thought on the rural nature of this work, looking at the range of user groups, and the appropriateness of implementing LTN1/20 Cycle Infrastructure Design within the rural context. Certain infrastructure improvements would not be appropriate in the rural context, particularly within a protected landscape. The proposed outcome: The aim of this Active Travel Plan is to target future investment where it will be most effective, backed up by a report detailing understanding of a select number of travel corridors. By enhancing our baseline understanding, we can advocate for vital infrastructure improvements enabling multi-modal travel and improved Active Travel to the National Park.
