## Summary

The British Film Institute (BFI) is seeking to enhance its capacity for preserving the UK’s film heritage through a tender for Photochemical Film Laboratory Services. This procurement, classified under Motion picture and video tape production services, is at the Award stage following a competitive open procedure. The framework agreement will last for three years, commencing on 1 September 2021, with an estimated value between £200,000 and £250,000. The contract period is set to conclude on 31 August 2024, with an option to extend for an additional year. Tender submissions were due by 2 June 2021, and the successful suppliers include several established players in the film preservation industry.

This opportunity presents significant growth potential for businesses specialising in motion picture and video tape production services. Companies with expertise in photochemical film processing, restoration, and preservation would be particularly well-suited to compete in this tendering process. The BFI's commitment to the preservation of film heritage underlines the importance of innovative and capable suppliers, creating pathways for SMEs and larger firms to engage in a critical cultural mission while expanding their portfolios within the cinematic arts sector.

## Notice

The BFI and its strategic partners are responsible for the preservation and accessibility of a significant share of the UK's film heritage. The film collections encompass the entire history of film production, and include examples of an extremely wide range of formats and systems. While the BFI maintains considerable expertise and machinery to support and preserve these formats through duplication, this Tender seeks a greater range and capacity through commercial provision. The number of participants to the framework agreement is envisaged to be between 3 and 6 and the duration of the framework agreement is 3 years with an option to extend for a further one year. The estimated value for the duration of the framework agreement is between PS200,000- PS250,000.
