## Summary

The University of Salford is conducting a tender for the "Wind Machines" project as part of the Energy House 2 (EH2) initiative, which aims to create a state-of-the-art building physics test laboratory in Salford, England. The procurement is currently in the tender stage, with an open procedure that allows for participation below the threshold. The tender was published on 20th August 2020, with submissions due by 2nd October 2020. Once awarded, the contract period will commence on 1st November 2020 and run until 31st October 2021. The project falls under the industry category of "Fans" and "Wind-power installation works," with an estimated contract value of £22,000.

This tender presents a considerable opportunity for businesses involved in energy solutions, construction services, and specialised engineering. Companies capable of providing advanced fan systems or involved in wind-related technologies would find this project particularly relevant. Additionally, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, making it a fertile ground for innovative firms looking to expand their portfolio in publicly funded projects. Engaging with this tender could lead to valuable experience and enhanced visibility in the renewable energy sector.

## Notice

Energy House 2 (EH2) is a large-scale building physics test laboratory to be built at the University of Salford Manchester. The project Is part funded by the ERDF. The construction will begin in summer 2020 with the construction period set to last 12 months. The project builds on the successful Energy House project :(https://www.salford.ac.uk/built-environment/laboratories-and-studios/energyhouse ). A video of the project can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oP3bsXeQKYU EH2 will be a unique facility and one of most advanced building test facilities on the planet. It has the following features: * 2 large chambers capable of having 2 family homes built in each one (4 homes in total) * Temperature controlled to within 0.5 degC from -20degC to +40 degC * Wind, rain, solar radiation and snow can be generated * These conditions provide testing facilities for housing covering 95% of the global population. The Energy House 2 Project has a requirement to simulate wind in a large environment to accomplish the following: * To move the boundary air layer on the facade of homes built with within the environmental chamber, with the desired effect to affect the heat flow through the wall of the homes * To provide wind driven rain, the fans will work to push the rain directly onto the wall. Rain is provided by a separate system. * To provide a difference in pressure across the homes, this will adjust the rate at which air infiltration occurs in the homes.
