It is an applied science agency that primarily supports government decision making whilst extending its reach across the public sector, the EU and wider markets where possible in regard to marine and closely related environments. Cefas requires two CTD instruments to support our ongoing work overseas and within the UK. The instruments need to be able to collect information on conductivity, temperature and depth as well as information of dissolved oxygen and fluorescence. The data will be used to feed into environmental and oceanographic models. Working in remote coastal waters the instruments should be suitably robust so as to be launched from a vessel using a frame and suitably light enough to also be launched by hand from the side of a small inshore vessel.
