## Summary

The University of Exeter is initiating a tender process for the procurement of "Multiparameter Sondes for Fresh Water Monitoring" as part of the Upstream Thinking project, which focuses on assessing the impact of catchment interventions on water quality. This procurement falls within the agricultural and environmental monitoring industry and is located in the South West region of the United Kingdom. The open tender period for this procurement ends on 15 February 2021, with the contract anticipated to commence on 15 March 2021 and concluding on 14 March 2026. Bidders should note that the procurement method is an open procedure.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in environmental monitoring equipment, particularly those specialising in water quality sensors and instruments. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary community and social enterprises (VCSEs) are encouraged to participate, as this procurement is tailored to accommodate their capabilities. Companies that manufacture or distribute probes, marine equipment, and related technologies will find this tender especially relevant for enhancing their market presence and fostering growth in the public sector.

## Notice

We are looking to purchase water quality monitoring equipment for the Upstream Thinking project, funded by South West Water. The project aims at understanding the impact of catchment interventions on water quality at catchment scale in both streams and reservoirs. The equipment will be deployed to give us an understanding of (1) turbidity and DOC issues in streams, and (2) algae blooms in reservoirs. In each environment, we seek to deploy a number of sondes (i.e. up to 28 in total) comprising the following combinations of parameters: Sonde A: o pH o Conductivity/temperature o Dissolved Oxygen o Turbidity Sonde B: o pH o Conductivity/temperature o Turbidity o fDOM Sonde C: o Turbidity o Dissolved Oxygen o Conductivity/temperature o Chlorophyll a o Phycocyanin The equipment will be deployed for a period of time and accessed periodically. It will need to include appropriate biofouling prevention, data logging and power capacity. The data download needs to be similar for all sensors, and all cables and/or hardware must be provided.
