## Summary

The procurement process involves the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) based in Swansea, Wales, seeking to acquire Docker EE licences through a selective tender method. The procurement falls under the custom software development services category and has a total value of £49,699.20. The tender period concluded on 19 April 2018, with the contract commencing on 1 May 2018 and running until 30 April 2019. The successful supplier for this contract was Software Box Limited.

This opportunity presents a significant growth potential for businesses specialising in software development, particularly those with expertise in container orchestration and cloud services. Companies that offer Docker solutions or related software advancements would be particularly well-placed to compete for similar contracts, especially those that can demonstrate robust security features and cloud compatibility. The opportunity is notably suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that excel in delivering technology solutions that meet the needs of government organisations like the DVLA.

## Notice

Docker is currently used on the DVLA estate to package applications and the interactive command line tool is used by developers. DockerEE is the natural extension to this and gives a number of advantages: Built-in container orchestration - the latest release supports Kubernetes and is the favoured option for developing to Azure. Secure by default - DockerEE is secure out of the box with no addition setup required. Image signing and security scanning is already being used on trial licences. Docker Trusted Registry - DVLA have adopted the Docker standard to create images that run on Kubernetes. DTR is a place to securely store these image while also remaining cloud agonistic. 6 'Enterprise Edition Advanced' licences with Business Critical support are required to run in AWS Production. 6 'Enterprise Edition Advanced' licences with Business Critical support are required to run in Azure Production. 6 'Enterprise Edition Advanced' licences with Non-Business Critical support are required to run in AWS Non-Production. 12 'Enterprise Edition Advanced' licences with Non-Business Critical support are required to run in Azure Non-production.
