## Summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking to enhance the understanding and management of risk in school-aged children through a programme titled "Programme to promote the understanding and managing of risk in school-aged children." This initiative, valued at approximately £200,000 over a potential two-year contract, is categorised under education and training services within the health and social work sectors. The procurement process employed is an open tender, with the contract period running from 1st September 2017 to 31st August 2018. The procurement stage has been completed, and the successful supplier, Billson Consulting Ltd, was awarded the contract on 4th August 2017.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for businesses focused on educational services, mental health support, and risk management frameworks, particularly those with experience in school programmes. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary community social enterprises (VCSEs) may find this an advantageous project to pursue, as it aims to develop life skills and resilience in young people, which aligns well with their core competencies. Engaging with this initiative can lead to further opportunities for similar contracts in the public sector, especially in the educational and health sectors.

## Notice

Leicestershire County Council Public Health Department tendered for a new programme in Leicestershire to promote the understanding and managing of risk in school-aged children. Based on national guidance, the programme is to provide a whole-school approach to understanding and managing risk taking behaviour amongst children and young people in Leicestershire by helping them to develop life skills so that they can build resilience to harmful risk taking behaviour, in relation to tobacco, substance misuse, and sexual health. We propose to do this by building on opportunities and support in schools to develop the resources, skills and strengths of children and young people. The programme will be delivered within the broader context of the Leicestershire Healthy Schools Programme. This programme will link with the Promoting Resilience programme, which is part of the local Future in Mind children and young people mental health and wellbeing transformation programme. The anticipated value of the Requirements is approximately PS100,000 per annum. For the total maximum period of the contract, including all optional extensions, the anticipated value of the Requirements is approximately PS200,000. The Council proposes to enter into one Contract for a maximum period of 1 year, with the option to extend for up to a further period(s) totalling 12 months.
