## Summary

Sellafield Ltd, through the CTM Portal for the NDA Shared Services Alliance, has recently awarded contracts under the title "SL-HAWTT Programme Stage 1- Tranche 2". This procurement falls within the research and development services category and was finalised on 29th July 2021, with a contract value reaching £800,000. The contracts were awarded as a direct result of the need for advanced thermal treatment technology, pertinent to the Highly Active Waste Thermal Treatment Programme, and the initial tender period concluded on 6th July 2021. The contract period extends until 31st December 2021, and the delivery addresses include various regions, such as the UK and British Overseas Territories.

This tender presents significant opportunities for large-scale businesses involved in research and development, particularly those with capabilities in waste treatment technologies. Companies specialising in innovative thermal treatment solutions may find this an ideal opportunity to engage with Sellafield Ltd, as the awarded suppliers, Atkins Limited and Veolia Nuclear Solutions (UK) Ltd, demonstrate a need for advanced technologies that fulfil specific baseline requirements for pilot facilities. Thus, businesses with expertise in related services and technologies are encouraged to consider similar future tenders to expand their market presence within the nuclear decommissioning sector.

## Notice

Sellafield Ltd has awarded contracts to support the delivery of Stage 1 of Tranche 2 of our Highly Active Waste Thermal Treatment Programme (HAWATT Programme) to the two suppliers identified within this notice on the basis that the suppliers have a thermal treatment technology capable of supporting the HAWTT Programme and to which the supplier has exclusive rights. The purpose of the Stage 1 contract awards is to enable Sellafield Ltd to determine whether the proprietary technology solutions of the suppliers meet baseline requirements for pilot facilities which will be delivered by the HAWTT Programme. Sellafield Ltd has elected to award contracts to both suppliers to ensure that there is no unnecessary narrowing of parameters. Should Sellafield Ltd be satisfied that the baseline requirements are met then Sellafield Ltd may subsequently award a supplies contract , in accordance with Regulations 32(5)(a) of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
