## Summary

The National Coal Mining Museum for England is currently seeking a partner for the refurbishment of exhibition and gallery space, specifically the Main Gallery and the Home Life Gallery. This tender, titled "Exhibition and Gallery Space Refurbishment," is underway as part of an open procurement process, which began officially on 22nd June 2018, and is scheduled to close for submissions on 27th July 2018. The anticipated contract period will commence on 24th September 2018 and last until 1st April 2019. The total value of the contract is approximately £72,000, and the project falls within the industries of furniture, construction materials, and architectural services, with a delivery address located in Wakefield, England.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses in the construction and exhibition design sectors, particularly those specialising in gallery refurbishments and architectural services. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, given that the procurement is open and designed to include them. Businesses with experience in museum environments, project management, and collaborative working with cultural institutions would be particularly well-suited to compete for this project, facilitating the museum's vision of enriching visitor experience through carefully designed gallery spaces.

## Notice

The National Coal Mining Museum for England is looking to work with a partner to deliver our requirements to refit and redevelop two central gallery spaces within the main visitor hub - the Main Gallery and the Home Life Gallery. The National Coal Mining Museum for England requires delivery partners that will facilitate the achievement of its vision in an open manner and with mutual trust and co-operation. The first gallery space, the Main Gallery, is the largest single space within the visitor hub devoted to exhibiting our collections. The space is positioned between the visitor entrance and the exterior Pit Yard, serving as it does as the most commonly first entered gallery space. As such it should have a uniform tone and delivery, be approachable and in keeping with our objectives and aims as a museum and visitor attraction. Leading from the Main Gallery are the entrances to the Special Exhibition Gallery (not being refit or redesigned in this brief) and the Home Life Gallery. The Home Life Gallery documents more of the social history aspect of mining and mining culture, allowing a window into the lives lived by miners, their families and communities. At present it hosts a living historian in an area designated as Parkinson's Yard, again the yard space will not be changed during this redevelopment. Additional information: Tender is officially live from 22/06/2018 - 00:01 FAQ document added 25/06/2018
