## Summary

The Ministry of Justice has awarded a contract to Galliford Try Construction Ltd for the refurbishment of the Nightingale Wing at HMYOI Feltham. This project, valued at £655,146.83, focuses on upgrading the building to UK Government and Ministry of Justice standards, including addressing water damage, roof replacement, fire safety improvements, and window replacements. Located in London, the project is classified under prison building construction work (CPV 45216113) and will be conducted under a two-stage Design and Build Contract using the PPC2000 (Amended 2013) Form of contract. The project commenced on 16 October 2024 and is expected to be completed by 12 December 2025, following a selective procurement method initiated as a call-off from a framework agreement.

This tender offers significant opportunities for construction and refurbishment firms specialising in institutional projects, particularly those with expertise in handling asbestos surveys, fire safety systems, and comprehensive design and build contracts. Given the project's requirements and extensive scope of work, large-scale construction companies with robust project management capabilities and familiarity with government standards will be well-suited to compete and execute the contract effectively. The involvement in such a substantial redevelopment offers potential for business growth through high-profile public sector engagement and further establishes the contractor's credentials in the industry.

The scope of works will consist of but is not limited to: refurbishment of the wing where water damage has occurred (cosmetic upgrade to include flooring, walls, doors), Roof replacement, Fire Safety Improvements (including ventilation, detection, suppression, passive protection, and emergency lighting systems) and Window Replacement. The works are to be delivered in line with UK Government specification guidelines and Ministry of Justice standards. A constructor has been appointed for the design and build of the project. This is a two stage Design and Build Contract let under the PPC2000 (Amended 2013) Form of contract. The original estimated value of the contract was calculated by MOJ, and its Cost Consultants following desktop and non-intrusive surveys and was based on information reasonably known at the time and arrived at via a thorough and appropriate methodology. The first stage will involve the constructor providing Pre-construction surveys and design services at a cost of PS655,146.83.
