This procurement, classified under "Environmental engineering consultancy services" (CPV 71313000), focuses on assessing the potential impacts of poor-quality rising mine water on surface and groundwater in the East Midlands. The procurement stage is at the awarding phase, with the tender initially published on 9th June 2024, and the contract period spans from 19th December 2024 to 30th September 2025. The procurement was conducted through an open procedure, and the contract value is £243,999 GBP.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in environmental engineering, particularly those with expertise in hydrogeological modelling and risk assessments. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, given the suitability criteria that favour them. Businesses providing advanced technical support in building predictive hydrogeological models and conducting comprehensive environmental impact assessments will find this contract aligned with their expertise and service offerings. The focus on complex coal workings in the East Midlands offers a unique opportunity for niche consultancy firms to showcase their specialised skills.

## Notice

The Coal Authority invites you to tender for the provision of specialist technical support to scope, design, build and report the outputs from a predictive hydrogeological and geochemical model. The model is required to assess the potential impacts of poor quality rising mine water on surface water and groundwater receptors and to provide the technical basis for selecting the optimum mine water management strategy. The study area is in the English East Midlands and comprises a delineated area of abandoned coal workings which are partially flooded and rising. Specialist modellers and consultants are invited to tender for the work which will include the design, creation and running of the model as well as producing model outputs, risk assessments and technical reporting.
