The recent review identified that existing signs can be unstable in adverse weather and often require additional support by ballast or spare signs to remain in position. Given the size and weight of ballast, additional support is usually provided in the form of unused signs or cones. Highways England seek to investigate the market options to fulfil the requirement of alternative signs for Emergency Traffic Management deployment, as per Chapter 8 requirements.
