## Summary

The Department for Communities & Local Government is continuing the provision of Secretariat Services supporting Aggregate Working Parties by extending existing contracts for an additional 12 months, concluding on 31 March 2019. This procurement falls under the services category, specifically technical analysis or consultancy services, with a total value of £165,000. The tender period officially ended on 29 March 2018, and the contract is scheduled to start on 1 April 2018. The services are intended to assist local authorities across England to effectively monitor the Managed Aggregate Supply System (MASS).

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialised in consultancy and technical analysis, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs). Competitors with expertise in providing secretarial or consultancy services geared towards public sector supply chains will find this procurement aligns well with their capabilities. Companies interested in supporting local authorities in their mineral planning initiatives and ensuring the smooth operation of the Aggregate Working Parties are particularly well-positioned to respond.

## Notice

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (the Authority) has had contracts in place for the provision of Secretariat Services supporting Aggregate Working Parties since 2015. There are 9 Aggregate Working Parties, 1 for each of the 9 local authority area clusters across England. The role of the secretariat function is to enable these Working Parties to fulfil their functions in monitoring the operation of the Managed Aggregate Supply System (MASS). The contracts covering the 9 area clusters were due to expire on 31 March 2018. However, the Authority is extending these contracts for a further 12 months, until 31 March 2019. The extensions will secure the continued provision of the services provided by the Aggregate Working Parties' secretariats while the Government considers its future role in supporting the sector. Securing the continued provision of the services provided by the Aggregate Working Parties' secretariats for 2018-19 will enable mineral planning authorities to continue to positively plan for aggregates. Additional information: This Notice relates to the 12-month contract extensions to 31 March 2019.
