This initiative is aimed at gathering insights into the capabilities of the marketplace, which will inform upcoming procurement activities related to ticket-issuing machines and automatic fare collection systems. Participation in the Market Sounding project is voluntary, and the project is entirely separate from any subsequent Fare Collection System procurement activity. Participation in the Market Sounding project will not affect the opportunity for suppliers to participate in any subsequent Fare Collection System procurement, and will not form part of any Fare Collection System procurement assessment or selection process. WMCA is keen to plan a Fare Collection System procurement that delivers the best possible outcomes, and understands that this is best achieved by listening to the needs and capabilities of suppliers within the marketplace. To reiterate this market sounding exercise (not a tender exercise) is entirely separate from any subsequent Fare Collection System procurement activity.
