## Summary

The procurement process involves Public Health England (PHE) seeking the provision of an automated magnetic bead cell separation system, classified under the CPV code for analysers. The tender is currently in the active stage under an open procurement method, with a total contract value of £45,000. Bids are accepted until 25 February 2019, and the resulting contract period will commence on 4 March 2019 and conclude on 3 March 2024. The contract is intended to benefit operations in the Radiation Effects and Toxicology Departments, and deliverables may be shipped to various locations including the UK and British Overseas Territories.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in laboratory equipment and analysis technologies. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) focused on the supply of scientific apparatus are encouraged to participate, especially those that can offer innovative solutions for workflow improvement in health-related research settings. The ability to provide reliable, cutting-edge equipment could enhance operations at Public Health England and similar institutions, thereby fostering business growth in this industry.

## Notice

Public Health England (PHE) requires the provision of an automated magnetic bead cell separation system. The currently available system is used in a range of projects, some supported by external funding, on a regular basis. The equipment supports the research objectives in Radiation Effects and, potentially Toxicology Departments at CRCE. The supplier has informed us that it is now beyond repair and so presents a significant risk of failure. Replacement is therefore essential to avoid delays to planned work. The provision of new equipment will remove this risk from our current operating conditions and allow bids for broadly similar work requiring cell separation and purification to continue to be made.
