## Summary

The procurement process for the "Cefas DNA Extraction Robot" was initiated by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas) located in Lowestoft, UK. This procurement, classified under installation services of laboratory equipment within the scientific services sector, follows an open procedure and occurred during the planning stage. The tender period concluded on 31st May 2019, and the contract was awarded on the same date, with a financial scope of £41,067, covering a contract duration from 1st June to 30th June 2019.

This opportunity presents significant potential for businesses in the laboratory equipment manufacturing and scientific services sector, particularly for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) capable of meeting advanced technological requirements. With a focus on high-throughput nucleic acid extraction and minimisation of contamination risk, companies that specialise in innovative laboratory technologies or extraction methodologies will be well-positioned to engage in similar future tenders and enhance their market presence.

## Notice

https://www.delta-esourcing.com/respond/TKK2UX7662 Requirement: 1.Nucleic acids extraction robot. The proposed solution is required to: * Extract nucleic acids from homogenised tissue in a high throughput way, reducing laboratory technician time and the health and safety implications of chemicals used in standard extraction methods. *Must be able to independently process 1 to 48 samples at a time and have a suitable system to record informatically the samples information. *Provide an extraction process that should not take longer than one hour in order to maintain nucleic acid stability. *Operate by nucleic acids binding beads rather than using liquid handling to avoid contaminations. *Be able to extract nucleic acids from difficult sample types as shrimps hepatopancreas, filtered water, gills. *Measure the nucleic acid concentration by fluorescence at the end of the extraction (or to be connected to a quantification device) and record the concentration. *Provide additional samples holders in order to enable the operator to start preparing a new batch of samples while the robot is running. Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
