## Summary

The procurement process involves the UK Shared Business Services Limited, which is seeking to acquire a Fast Confocal Microscope System for the Laboratory of Molecular Biology located in Cambridge. This tender, titled "UKSBS RFP PR17176 Fast Confocal Microscope System," is classified under the goods category, specifically focused on microscopes (CPV code 38510000). The procurement method is an open procedure, and the tender period ended on 19th January 2018. A contract was awarded, with an estimated value of £350,000, starting from 22nd February 2018 and lasting until 21st February 2020. The responses for submissions were required to be uploaded via the Emptoris e-sourcing platform, and the specifics of participation highlighted registration requirements.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses in the scientific equipment and imaging technologies sector to expand their market presence. Companies that specialise in high-speed multichannel fluorescence imaging systems, particularly those capable of providing cutting-edge imaging solutions for biological research, would be well-suited to compete. Given the tender's focus on quality and advanced technology, potential bidders need to demonstrate expertise in developing systems that minimise photo bleaching and phototoxicity during live imaging, addressing the specific needs of high-level research institutions.

## Notice

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CLOSING TIME FOR RESPONSES IS 14.00 (GMT) ON 19th JANUARY 2018. ALL RESPONSES MUST BE UPLOADED TO THE EMPTORIS ESOURCING PLATFORM. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY DIRECT TO THE BUYER. Please disregard any content in this notice that requests your organisation "to apply directly to the buyer" as this unfortunately a system generated error, that is outside of the Contracting Authorities control. The fast confocal microscope system covered by this requirement is intended to provide the Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge with a high-speed multichannel fluorescence imaging system capable of super-resolution imaging and optimised for live sample imaging (minimised photo bleaching and phototoxicity). The system shall be capable of fluorescence imaging of live cultured cells, motile live cells, freely moving small model organisms and of live tissue explants. We are looking for a 'latest generation' instrument that offers improvements in imaging performance over our existing spinning disk confocal microscope.
