## Summary

The University of Southampton has recently concluded a public procurement process, resulting in the award of a contract for project management consultancy services related to the long-term maintenance and refresh works at Building 42 on the Highfield Campus. This structure, which is integral to the student experience as it houses the student union, requires significant upgrades and repairs. The procurement took place under Lot 2 of the NHSSBS Healthcare Planning, Construction Consultancy and Ancillary Services Framework. The procurement utilised a selective method through a call-off from a framework agreement. The process is in the Award stage as of 27th October 2025. With a contract value of £109,608.17, the project is set to start on 30th September 2025 and end by 1st March 2027. The construction management services fall under the CPV code: 71540000, focusing on the region of South East, United Kingdom.

This tender represents a substantial business opportunity, particularly suited for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs), due to its inclusivity in the procurement process. The project will benefit businesses specialising in construction management services who wish to partner with a prestigious educational institution such as the University of Southampton. Agencies with expertise in overseeing complex maintenance projects and delivering sustainable, modern facilities would find this contract particularly advantageous for expanding their portfolio and demonstrating their capability in delivering high-quality consultancy services. STACE LLP, a firm classified as an SME, successfully secured this contract, underscoring the potential for businesses with similar profiles to thrive in such competitive procurement environments.

## Notice

The University of Southampton is awarding a contract for project management consultancy services in relation to long-term maintenance and refresh works at Building 42, Highfield Campus which houses our student union, SUSU. Building 42, built in the 1960s, has received little investment in recent years which has led to significant building fabric and services issues. The ultimate desire of SUSU is to achieve an upgraded, more sustainable, modern facility to improve student experience, however before this can be achieved the backlog maintenance and building fabric issues need to be resolved. This contract was awarded following a further competition under Lot 2 of the NHSSBS Healthcare Planning, Construction Consultancy and Ancillary Services Framework (Framework Reference: SBS10190).
