## Summary

The South of England Procurement Centre has awarded a two-year contract for the procurement of additional primary care capacity within the urgent treatment centre delivery model, referenced as 20.746, for NHS West Sussex CCG. The contract, valued at £1,907,756, will commence on 1 April 2021 and conclude on 31 March 2023. This procurement falls under the 'services' category, specifically general practitioner services, and is located in the South East of England. The tender period closed on 7 December 2020, and the procurement process used was classified as 'Other'.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses engaged in primary healthcare services, particularly those focusing on innovative workforce solutions such as portfolio GP roles. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations that can provide a flexible and integrated primary care workforce would be well-suited to compete. The contract aims to enhance service delivery at the Urgent Treatment Centres, which could lead to collaborative opportunities for businesses capable of managing both minor illness and injury pathways alongside A&E services.

## Notice

The CCG has awarded a two year contract commencing 1.4.2021 to Innovations in Primary Care Ltd (IPC) for the provision of a local primary care workforce that is part of an integrated delivery model for the Western Sussex Hospitals Foundation Trust (WSHFT) co-located Urgent Treatment Centres (UTCs) at Worthing and St Richard's hospitals. The intention is to test out a new approach to workforce development by introducing portfolio GP roles into the local system. The additional primary care shifts offered within this contract will form part of the UTC capacity and will also form part of this portfolio opportunity. The UTCs provide a 12 hour, seven days a week GP led service managing the minor illness and injury pathways, previously seen in the A&Es and the additional primary care activity outside of core GP hours, currently being provided by IPC. Close working with A&E to manage the front door demand is crucial to ensure the best outcomes for patients. Staff rotate through both A&E and the UTC to maintain/ increase skillsets. The UTCs are also part of the wider Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) system across Sussex that is a networked model via digital enablers to provide patients with access to clinical triage and direct booking into the right service. This model supports the whole system to become more resilient by reducing fragmentation and simplifying access for the public.
