To comply with the requirements of the Environment Act 2021 the council will introduce a weekly Food Waste collection service for households across the borough, and it also intends to offer a separate Food Waste collection service to the Council's commercial waste customers. This contract is for the receipt and treatment of all Contract Waste (Food Waste) for an Initial Term of 5 years with an option for the Council to extend the Contract for up to a further 5 years (3+2). This Specification details the Services to be provided by the Contractor. Bidders will be required to offer tipping facilities to accommodate all collected Contract Waste. It should however be noted that the Council does not own or have access to a tipping facility currently suitable for Food Waste. As such the council requires a Delivery Point/Treatment Site within 10 miles radius from the centre of Bedford MK40 1SL.
