## Summary

The University of Sheffield is seeking proposals for the development of a Thermometry System under the title "2268/DM - Development of a Thermometry System." This procurement falls under the category of "Instruments for checking physical characteristics" and has been initiated as an open tender procedure. The contract is specifically located within the Yorkshire and the Humber region of the United Kingdom. The tender period concluded on 11th July 2019, with an awarded contract value of £150,000, which is active and is scheduled to commence on 5th August 2019 and run until 31st July 2020.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in the development and supply of scientific instruments, particularly those with experience in thermometry or related technological fields. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are particularly well-suited to compete, given the emphasis on fostering innovation within the procurement process. Companies that can demonstrate expertise in research methodologies related to blast and ballistic effects are encouraged to participate, as the successful tenderer will support the University's advanced research initiatives.

## Notice

The Department of Civil Engineering is a world leader in the area of Blast and Ballistic effects research. Its work at the Buxton labs range from large calibre ballistics (internal and external) to full-scale blast effects. The lab provides world leading industrial and fundamental research and its research informs excellence in teaching in the area of protection systems. We seek to determine the evolving thermo-chemical state of the post-detonation fireball, the effect of rapid afterburn on early stage energy release, and the consequences for pressure loading. To conduct this work, we will design and fabricate a proposed Mechanisms of Blast Loading facility in which we will detonate explosive charges resulting in a 1-dimensionally propagating fireball. Additional information: All tender documents, correspondences & tender returns must be conducted through the In-tend site via the link shown above
