They have a history of working together in partnership to deliver services to their respective residents. Between April 2019 and October 2022 both Councils outsourced their waste services. In October 2022, the service in South Hams was taken back in house. The service in West Devon remains outsourced to a private contractor. South Hams and West Devon have worked closely with other Devon Authorities on a common strategy to deliver sustainable waste management services to our residents known as the Devon Aligned Service (the DAS service) and is fully deployed in West Devon. South Hams District Council and West Devon Borough Council, the Council, operate many services within the South Hams and West Devon areas. This repair and maintenance contract is purely for South Hams fleet. All of the Councils operational services have a demand for vehicles which assist our staff to complete mandatory and discretionary responsibilities to the residents, visitors and businesses of South Hams and West Devon. As with all operational services there are many variations to each operational area.
