## Summary

The NHS Supply Chain has issued a planning notice for a forthcoming tender titled "General Wound Care," focused on medical consumables within the healthcare industry. The framework agreement seeks to cover a comprehensive range of products including bandages, medical swabs, gauze absorbents, cotton wool, first aid kits, plasters, and emergency products. This planned procurement process is currently at the planning stage, with key industry classifications linked to dressings, plasters, bandages, and first-aid boxes. The procurement will service various regions across the United Kingdom such as the North East, North West, Yorkshire and the Humber, East Midlands, West Midlands, East of England, London, South East, and South West. The framework agreement is scheduled to start on 1st February 2026 and will potentially run until 31st January 2030. Companies interested should note the future notice date set for 14th February 2025.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses in the medical supply sector, particularly those specialising in wound care products. The anticipated initial expenditure for the framework is between £13,500,000 to £14,500,000 GBP, with a possibility of reaching up to £58,000,000 GBP if extended to its maximum duration. SMEs and VCSEs are encouraged to participate, making this an attractive opportunity for smaller businesses to access substantial contracts and foster growth within their operations. Companies with capabilities in manufacturing or distributing medical consumables, particularly those that offer innovative solutions for wound care, will find this tender well-suited to their expertise. Engaging with this framework could enable businesses to expand their market presence and secure long-term revenue streams from the NHS Supply Chain.

It is anticipated that initial expenditure for this framework will be in the circa PS13,500,000 to PS14,500,00 GBP in the first year of this framework agreement. If the Framework Agreement is extended to the maximum duration, the anticipated expenditure will be circa PS54,000,000 to PS58,000,000 GBP (exc VAT). These are approximates only and the values may vary depending on the requirements of those bodies purchasing under the Framework Agreement.
