## Summary

The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) is currently facilitating a tender process titled "STEP WP6 - Remote High Integrity Pipe Connector Solution." This procurement falls within the services category, specifically focusing on engineering-related scientific and technical services, and it is targeted towards the electricity, heating, solar, and nuclear energy sector. The tender period is open until 20 September 2019, with the contract expected to commence on 30 September 2019 and conclude by 31 January 2020. The specified delivery location is within the South East region of the United Kingdom, and the procurement method employed is an open procedure.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in the engineering and technical services sector, particularly those with experience in pipe connectors across various industries. Companies that specialise in innovative solutions and have capabilities in creating remotely operable systems would be well-positioned to compete successfully. By participating in this procurement process, businesses can not only expand their portfolio but also potentially collaborate with UKAEA, a key player in the energy sector, enhancing their credibility and future prospects in the industry.

## Notice

The Client (UKAEA) wishes to develop a remotely operable pipe connection which can be made with a misalignment of up to 5deg and with the minimum of delay to establish a high integrity seal. The desire for speed and misalignment differ from the traditional approach in the reactor industry. The connection will be operated (connected/disconnected) by remote means and/or equipment. To reduce development costs and time UKAEA are ultimately seeking to identify a Consultant that has experience in pipe connectors in different industries to provide knowledge transfer, to enable new ideas and to meet the need.
