## Summary

The procurement process pertains to the award made by Public Health England for the "PHE - Corporate ICT - Second Generation Surveillance System Development G-Cloud 12" contract. This initiative falls under the category of industry-specific software packages, focusing on the development of a system that aids in the management of infectious disease data, notably in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The contract was awarded to BAE Systems Applied Intelligence Limited on 1st September 2020, with a total contract value of £990,000. The service period runs until 31st August 2022. This tender was part of a selective procurement method executed through a Call-off contract from a framework agreement, with delivery addresses including various locations in the UK and beyond.

This tender represents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in information technology services and strategic systems planning. Organisations with rigorous expertise in developing healthcare IT solutions, especially those capable of supporting cloud migration and performance enhancements, would be particularly well-suited to compete in this space. Given the growing demands on the Second Generation Surveillance System, including scaling up testing capacities, firms that provide innovative software solutions to improve system performance may find avenues for expansion and collaboration with Public Health England and similar contracting authorities.

## Notice

Public Health England, an executive agency of the Department of Health and Social and Social Care (DH) (hereafter referred to as "Public Health England" or "PHE" also referred to as the "Contracting Authority" or the "Authority" or the "Employer") have awarded BAE Systems Applied Intelligence Limited a two year Call-Off Contract with the option to extend a further two years year via G-Cloud 11 Framework Agreement (RM1557.11). BAE developed and provide 3rd line support to Second Generation Surveillance System (SGSS) Solution. The solution is responsible for capturing and transferring information relating to the spread of infectious diseases using the results of medical test data from laboratories, including Covid-19. These results are delivered to the SGSS solution via file transfer. The SGSS currently process significantly more results than it was designed for (20k results per day), and this figure is set to grow in line with the governments 'winter readiness programme' and then further with project 'moon shot', which sets out to test between 5-9 million people daily. SGSS workstreams: 1- A workstream of analysis / elaboration / design to help understand existing limitations and performance bottlenecks. 2- A workstream of continuous system performance improvements to the existing solution hosted 'on prem' at PHE. 3- Supporting a third party, contracted through PHE, in migrating the existing solution to the cloud and supporting transition to the cloud service, including uplifts to the application in order to support new OS versions and etc.
