## Summary

The University of Sheffield has completed the procurement process for an "Image Intensified CCD Camera System plus UV Optics," classified under CPV code 38600000 (Optical instruments). This procurement was conducted using an open procedure and was split into two distinct lots. The tender period ended on 12 November 2024, and the contract will run from 1 April 2025 to 30 May 2025. The location for this procurement is Yorkshire and the Humber, United Kingdom, with a total contract value of £151,100. The award was officially published on 20 February 2025, with the contract having been awarded on 24 January 2025.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses in the optical instruments sector, especially those specialising in advanced scientific cameras and UV optics. SMEs and VCSEs were encouraged to participate, positioning this tender as an accessible opportunity for smaller to medium-sized enterprises. The procurement's specific focus on Nd:YAG pumped dye laser systems for combustion diagnostics and planar laser-induced fluorescence imaging studies suggests that companies with expertise in these high-tech applications would be well-suited to benefit from the contract. The winning suppliers, Photonic Solutions Ltd. and Andor Technology Ltd., demonstrate the potential for businesses to collaborate on delivering high-value, specialised scientific equipment.

## Notice

A Nd:YAG pumped dye laser system is required. Its main use will be in combustion diagnostics studies of turbulent spray flames using the technique of planar laser induced fluorescence (PLIF) from 225 nm and above, to observe several chemical species, for example for NO, OH, CH2O. A low noise scientific camera for example sCMOS, and/or an intensified camera, and UV camera lens are desirable as part of the detection system. The detection system is required to be suitable for quantitative planar laser induced fluorescence imaging studies from 225 nm and above. The requirement above will be split into 2 distinct lots, within the tender. Additional information: All tender documents, clarification requests & tender returns must be conducted & submitted through the In-tend site, via the link provided above.
