## Summary

The Ministry of Justice has awarded a contract for the "Blended Supervision Model Evaluation Relaunch" tender, valued at £249,900.43. The procurement method used was selective, with the contract awarded to Get the Data Ltd. The tender involved research services and aimed to evaluate and improve the probation practitioners' supervision model in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The contract period is from July 25, 2022, to March 24, 2024, providing opportunities for businesses in the research services industry interested in working with government organisations on innovative projects. The Ministry of Justice, located in Leeds, England, initiated this procurement process.

This tender presents opportunities for businesses in the research services sector, particularly those experienced in evaluating service delivery models. The Ministry of Justice, as the buying organisation, sought to improve the supervision practices of probation practitioners, creating scope for companies specialising in innovative research solutions. The contract awarded to Get the Data Ltd signifies prospects for larger-scale companies operating within the research services domain. Businesses looking to collaborate with government entities on projects concerning evolving operational methods and service delivery would find this tender suitable for leveraging their expertise and capabilities effectively.

## Notice

As part of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions imposed by Government guidelines, Probation Practitioners (PPs) were required to work under the Exceptional Delivery Model (EDM). This resulted in rapid changes in practice with the majority of offices closing and staff working from home conducting sentence management supervision using a mix of office based and remote approaches. Learning from the experience of using alternative supervision methods, and the fact that this had become business as usual, led to consideration of how this experience might inform future delivery of supervision and what blend of techniques constitutes the best model.
