## Summary

The UK Shared Business Services Limited is managing a public procurement process titled "UK SBS PR19056 CLARA Linac Waveguide" for the design, manufacture, and delivery of a Radio Frequency Linac Waveguide Distribution System at the UKRI STFC Daresbury Laboratory in Warrington, England. This tender falls under the goods category and follows an open procurement method, specifically targeting above-threshold contracts. The tender period concluded on 2nd August 2019, with a contract period initiated on 16th September 2019, lasting until 17th May 2020. The total contract value is approximately £624,453.37, which reflects a modification in the contract terms that complied with public contract regulations.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in the design and innovation of linear accelerators and RF distribution systems. Companies that are well-suited to compete include those capable of handling large-scale manufacturing and delivery requirements within the scientific and engineering sectors. Given the technical specificity of the waveguide systems required, suppliers with experience in high-power RF technologies and those registered with the CCS e-Sourcing Portal stand a strong chance of securing contracts related to this project.

A next-generation light source test facility is to be constructed at the DL which will be known as CLARA. The aim of the CLARA project is to develop a normal conducting test accelerator capable of generating longitudinally and transversely bright electron bunches and to use these bunches in the experimental production of stable, synchronised, ultra-short photon pulses of coherent light from a single pass FEL (Free Electron Laser) with techniques directly applicable to the future generation of light source facilities. UKRI STFC requires waveguide system for the CLARA facility capable of handling RF peak powers of up to 80 MW for the 3 RF 4m linacs.
