## Summary

The Department of Health is initiating a tender for the Healthy Start Vitamin Scheme, which aims to re-procure children's and women's vitamin products as food supplements rather than licensed medicines. This procurement effort, classified under the CPV code for vitamins (33616000), is currently at the planning stage and anticipates a contract period from September 21, 2017, to September 20, 2022, with an estimated budget of approximately £1,100,000 for 2018. Suppliers are encouraged to attend a supplier event on July 5, 2016, in London to engage further and express interest in contracting opportunities.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specialising in the manufacture, storage, and distribution of food supplements. Companies that can meet the minimum requirements detailed in the attached documents are well-suited to compete for contracts that involve the manufacture of children's and women’s vitamins, as well as their distribution to various NHS entities and other organisations in the UK. Engaging with this procurement could enhance their market reach and contribute to public health initiatives.
